At our CPA Autumn Reception hosted by British Land at Blossom Yard, Norton Folgate, keynote speaker Katie Stewart (Executive Director for Environment, City of London Corporation) set out her plans to develop a future-ready Square Mile.
In her speech, Katie committed to restoring and upgrading the City’s historic environment as it progresses towards a net zero future, including implementing a retrofit first, not retrofit only approach. Katie also discussed the City’s use of pioneering sustainability technology to assess the microclimatic impact of tall buildings and the need to diversify the leisure and cultural offerings, to fully realise the Corporation’s Destination City vision.
Guests also heard from Matthew Secker (Head of Development – Broadgate and Paddington Campuses, British Land) who provided details of the site’s restoration and reimagining, as well as CPA Vice-Chair Karen Cook (Co-Founder, SPICE Design) who hailed the ongoing partnership between the CPA and the City of London Corporation.
