CPA NextGen hosted the Association’s first virtual networking event for graduates and new starters to the sector.
Following an introduction outlining the importance of NextGen networks for career development by CPA Chair Dan Scanlon (Brookfield Properties – Senior Vice President, Developments), over 60 NewGen colleagues were split into smaller groups to discuss lessons learnt from 2020, things to look forward to in 2021 and wellbeing whilst working from home.
Event organiser and CPA NextGen Committee member, Liam Lawson Jones (Gerald Eve – Planning Consultant) said: “I’m delighted to have moderated the CPA Next Gen’s first virtual New Gen Networking event specifically focussed at newcomers to the industry. I have such admiration for all new joiners who have started their careers in a virtual world, most of whom haven’t set foot in their offices or met their colleagues face to face. I think about the prospect of being couriered a laptop and how much more daunting that makes the transition into working life.
“It was great to meet a number of new faces from all over the industry and it was truly heart-warming to see people smiling and making connections while sitting on their laptops in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining room tables and I’m hopeful that in the not too distant future it is something that we can do in person.”
