Over the next ten years the City’s growth rate is expected to accelerate, as its high productivity industries continue to grow. The Future of the City of London’s Economy looks at the prospects for the City’s economy over the coming decade, forecasting that the City, with its cluster of financial and professional services will continue to have a significant role in driving growth across London and the wider UK economy.
The report considers the importance of ensuring that the City and London maintain the conditions necessary to ensure this growth, such as housing and transport and infrastructure. In particular the report identifies practical and policy considerations that could act as either boosts or constraints to projected growth, and in addition highlighting other push and pull factors that have the potential to affect the City’s competitiveness and its long-run growth.
