CPA & WPA AUTUMN RECEPTION 2017

27 September 2017

Over 200 members from CPA and sister organisation WPA attended our joint Autumn Reception on the Terrace Pavilion at the House of Lords last night.

The Baroness Couttie, previous Leader of Westminster City Council, hosted the event and welcomed members to the Palace of Westminster. The Baroness discussed her work on Corporate Social Responsibility, a cause she has been championing in the Lords, and welcomed CPA and WPA’s commitment to subscribing to a CSR code of practice (which is detailed below).

Cllr Nickie Aiken, Leader of Westminster City Council, was due to speak but was unable to attend so Cllr Tim Mitchell, Cabinet for Finance, Property and Corporate Services, delivered a speech in her absence. Cllr Mitchell told members how the City Council was encouraging growth in the West End and highlighted how the emerging City Plan would seek to balance a vibrant local economy with increased jobs, prosperity, and more affordable homes. To close the speeches, Deputy Alastair Moss of the City of London Corporation discussed the future of the City post-Brexit. Confidence and investment remained high and the City was experiencing new and diverse occupiers which signalled one of the City of London’s’ enduring strengths – its ability to adapt. As Chair of the Property Investment Board Alastair also explained the Corporation’s role for supporting future investment in the City.

Members then resumed their evening of networking in the historic surroundings of the House of Lords with drinks and canapés. Photos of the event can be found here.
